Job Purpose:
This position directs the operation of Coal Handling personnel and is responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the coal handling area and keeping in compliance with all environmental and MSHA regulations.
Essential Functions:
Directs the Operation of all coal handling facilities. Maintains accurate logs and communicates unit equipment status to plant management.
Supervises and is directly responsible for the safe isolation and lock out of equipment for the protection of all employees and contractors. Assures that the LOTO, Confined Space and Station Emergency Response Procedures are followed and monitors the station LOTO procedure
Promotes accident prevention and safety awareness by conducting pre-shift briefings and monthly safety meetings
Monitors and evaluates maintenance activities to expedite return of equipment and systems to service
Conducts and coordinates Operations personnel training, qualification and scheduling.
Develops shift vacation schedules and assures that qualified relief personnel are available
Troubleshoots problems and corrects or recommends corrective action
Responsible for writing Technical Instructions.
Assures shift cleaning and housekeeping assignments are completed.
Ordering of consumable materials such as fuel oil and glycol
Actively participates as a member of the Station Emergency Response Team
Minimum high school education is required.
5 - 10 years work experience in a power plant or a related industrial setting
Preferred :
Military service or 2 year Associate Engineering
Basic computer knowledge, fuel handling experience
Homer City Station systems and equipment experience
Must have above average knowledge of mechanical / electrical systems and ability to comprehend Power Generation theory. Effective leadership skills to direct and motivate individuals. Disciplined to provide information in required logs and able to communicate orally and in writing.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions :
This a mixed work environment that combines both office and plant working conditions with moderate to medium noise levels. Must be able to wear required personal protection equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, goggles, face shields, hearing protection, respirators, fall protection harnesses, and other PPE as required.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
